Greg Mitchell, 75, of McPherson, KS, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024 at his residence.
Greg was born in McPherson, Kansas on January 4, 1949, a son of Don Murray and Virginia Irene (Hedlund) Mitchell.
Greg attended Plainview Grade School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, KS in 1967. He then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS.
Through the years, Greg worked as a farmer on his family's land west of McPherson. He also worked for Moridge Mfg. as a welder for many years during the winters, until it was time to start farming.
Greg enjoyed playing in the dirt, though most people would call it farming, spending countless hours in his shop working (or staring into space) on his Mopars. He restored them from the frame up, painting and modifying them and then modifying again. Greg enjoyed music and loved the "Rolling Stones". He wouldn't want us to say this, but he was a talented artist and loved spending time with his friends and family.
Greg Mitchell was united in marriage to Jonell Arlene Hall on January 28, 1968 in McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. The couple was blessed with the birth of two children, Julie and John. John passed away in 1989.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Mitchell, of McPherson, KS; his siblings, Alan Mitchell (Cathy), of Spring Hill, TN and Donna Vincent (Greg), of McPherson, KS; many, many friends and lots nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jonell Mitchell and his son, John Mitchell.
Celebration Of Life will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm (come and go) at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel in McPherson, KS.
Burial will be at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, KS.
Donations are to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and they can be sent to Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home. 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.

Julie - I came to know your dad through your mom (my 3rd sister, I swear) being best friends with my older sister Judy. He seemed like a gentle giant that always had a smile and something nice or funny to say! He came to my rescue a couple of times when I had car issues. I don´t recall a time when he didn´t rock the long blonde hair and a smile! I know he´s with your mom and John now... and Judy.
I wish you peace, love, and smiles in the days ahead with all the good memories you have... no doubt there are a ton of them! Joanne (Hill) Foster
