Gregory Alan Montecillo

Today I said my final goodbye to my son Greg.
Gregory "Greg" Alan Montecillo, 61, of East China Township passed away on Saturday, January 04, 2025.
He was born on October 17, 1963 to Emilio DeLaCruz Montecillo and Victoria Rosalin-Muzik. Always a quiet, good boy growing up. He graduated in 1982 form St. Mary's High School in Royal Oak.
Greg worked at Detroit Dairy, then he held a long standing career as a tool machinist at several machine shops. He was a jack of all trades. If he didn't know how to already do something he could master it in an afternoon.
When he wasn't working, Greg loved playing euchre, pool and darts with his friends. He had a passion for music and could always be found dancing to disco and Bob Dylan. He also enjoyed cooking, especially spaghetti, everything was heavy on the garlic. He was meticulous with all of his recipes.
Greg was the life of the party. He lit up every room he walked into. He could make anyone laugh without even trying.
Before he passed away Greg said to me "Mom I love you, you are always here for us, for me. This isn't living mom, I am scared but ready to go." I prayed with him and let him know he was loved and if he was not better by Sunday I was taking him back to the hospital.
Greg is survived by his mother, Victoria; his step-father, John; his five brothers, Jeffrey, Teddy, Elson, David, and Mark; his sisters, Emily, Ann, Renee; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emilio Montecillo; and his grandparents.
A memorial service for Greg will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church 5200 Park, East China, MI 48054. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Grace Memorial-Bower Rose Funeral Home 222 North Main Street, Marine City, Michigan 48039.
