Mr. Gregory Eugene Pugh, Sr., 70, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina transitioned on April 19, 2025.
Knowing that the body is but a temporary home for the spirit, and that death is only the door we must walk through to a glorious eternity with our Father. God in His infinite wisdom, called to rest Gregory Eugene Pugh, Sr. on April 19, 2025.
Gregory was born January 20, 1955 in Lenoir County to the late George Haywood Pugh, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Edwards Pugh. He was also preceded in death by his brother Earl Pugh.
Gregory was a graduate of West Craven in Vanceboro, N.C. His professional life included Security, Rocky Mount School System, and Community Hospital. In 1995 he founded B.J.'s Mastercare Cleaning Services. A few years later he decided to strictly service floors and founded B.J.'s Mastercare Floor Services. He did work all around Rocky Mount and surrounding areas, including Virginia.
His motto was to always do the best job possible. He worked until his health failed in 2004. He went on dialysis in 2004. In 2011 he received a kidney transplant. For the next 13 years he was proud to be hospital free. Gregory's passion was talking, telling stories, and sharing his testimony. He never knew a stranger. It didn't matter if he was in a checkout line, gas station, doctor office, or even the hospital. If the person was close enough, he would start a conversation. He loved his family. He was passionate about sports (especially the Pittsburgh Steelers). He loved his hat ministry that showcased his love for God, especially one that read FBI---firm believer in Christ. He was always willing to share the gospel, encouragement, or words of wisdom. He was also passionate about classic cars and motorcycles.
Gregory has been a member of Servant's Heart Fellowship since October 27, 1996. Pastor Dan Rolfe has been his pastor for the last 25 years.
Gregory leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 39 years, Betty Jean Blount Pugh; three sons: Gregory Eugene Pugh, Jr. of New Bern, N.C., Terrell Eugene Pugh of Raleigh, N.C., Tashawn Maurice Pugh (Adriana) of Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters: Tashena Denise Hitt (Michael) of Wake Forest, N.C., Tyshon LaToya Johnson (Marcus) of Rocky Mount, N.C., Shareignia Jamette Pugh of Nashville, N.C.; two Sisters: Daisey Swinson of Kinston, N.C., Kim Rogers (Steven) of Charlotte, N.C. and brother: Rev. George Donnell Pugh (Joyce) of Tarboro, N.C. He has 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of relatives ad friends.

The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Servant Hearts Fellowship located at 1663 Gold Rock Road in Rocky Mount, North Carolina A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Mr. Pugh will be held immediately after the time of visitation beginning at 1:00 pm.
