Gregory Martinez Salas Jr.

Greg Salas was born May 24, 1951 and passed away on February 28, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Greg graduated from West High School in 1970. This is where he was well known as Victor Viking. He then went to school at Bakersfield College and worked at Sears Department Store as a security guard. He furthered his education and graduated from San Jose State University. Greg retired as a deputy for the KCSO, where he worked for 28 years.

While employed with Sears he met Marylou, the love of his life who was also working there. In 1983 and on the 12th of November, he and Marylou wed. They had two daughters together. Greg was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Anyone who knew Greg, knew he loved to make people laugh. No one was a stranger to Greg. He always put others before himself, and he was someone you could count on. Greg was an all-around loveable guy. He was kind, generous, and helpful. We will miss his "jokes."

Greg loved to travel, but didn't care for flying. Not being able to say "no'' to his wife or daughters, he'd board the plane and order wine. Greg loved spending time in Ventura and visiting the Chumash Casino. He was an avid racquet ball and handball player. He was also a long-time member of the Elks and Moose Lodge.

He was predeceased by his parents Mena and Gregorio Salas. He is survived by his wife Marylou Salas, daughters Elise and Laura Salas, granddaughter Ilyana and other numerous family members.

Services will be held at St. Francis Church, 900 H Street. A Rosary scheduled at 9:30am followed by a mass at 10:00am. Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Boulevard.
