Gregory Emanuel Seawood quietly passed away March 6, 2025. Born and raised in Forrest City, Arkansas, Gregory was a member of Macedonia M.B. Church of Madison, AR, where he accepted Christ at an early age. He later became a member of Mount Sinai Church of God in Christ in Little Rock, AR where he served and worked with the youth department.
Gregory graduated from Forrest City High School in 1983. From a young age, his passion for football was evident. As a Mustang football player, he was a standout athlete. He received All-Conference and All-State honors for his dedication and skill and was named Defensive Player of the Year for the Eastern Conference. Playing in the Arkansas High School All-Star Game his senior year was a testament to his exceptional talent.
In 2011, Gregory was inducted into the Forrest City Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions to high school football.
In 1983, Gregory earned a football scholarship to the University of Central Arkansas, playing for Coach Harold Horton. He was UCA's All-Time Letterman from 1983 to 1985. Gregory graduated from UCA in 1989, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Education.
While attending UCA, Gregory joined Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated through his beloved Beta Delta chapter. He was initiated in the fall of 1985, along with his line brothers Ricky Weaver, Victor Turner, and Wendall Taylor, whom he loved dearly. During that time, he served the chapter in many capacities, including as Basileus. Gregory enjoyed stepping, chanting, and singing, and he had several funny sayings that are still shared amongst Beta Delta brothers today.
After graduating, Gregory taught and coached football at Cloverdale Middle School in Little Rock, AR, McGehee Junior High School in McGehee, Arkansas, and Jacksonville Northwood Pulaski Middle School in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Gregory was not just a coach, but also a mentor and friend to many. His kind and loving personality, along with his willingness to help anyone in need, left a lasting impact on the community. He will be remembered for forming numerous lifelong friendships, from childhood to adulthood, and for coaching and mentoring many young men who deeply appreciated his advice and guidance.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Evans Seawood, Jr. and Vera Seawood. He leaves to mourn his passing his sons Tyler Emanuel Seawood (Alexis) and Jordan Evans Seawood, their mother, Tina E. Gilbert, three grandchildren, Tyler Emanuel, Jr., Thaddeus Garland, and Analeah Laron, two brothers, Rodney Seawood (Verna) and Christopher Seawood (Maranda), three sisters, Angela Williams (Naccaman), Genette Howard (Dexter), and Evease Tucker (Andrew), close friends, Calvin McGaughy, Tommy Ricks, Ronnie Bankston, Cedric McClinic, his caregiver, Porsha Wine and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
