Gregory Stephen Straus, 71, of Alexandria, KY, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Saint Elizabeth Edgewood, KY. He was born on December 11, 1953, in Covington, KY, to his late parents, Jack and Betty (nee Mayer) Straus. Greg served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a steelworker and belonged to and was the past treasurer of the United Steelworkers Union.
Greg was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was infinitely patient, and his kindness was beyond measure. Greg was generous and hardworking. He lived a selfless life and always prioritized his family and grandkids above himself. He was thoughtful and considerate, always taking time to pray diligently for his family at a moment's notice. Greg had a humble spirit that touched everyone he knew. He loved the Lord and never faltered in his faith. Jesus was his rock and filled his life with peace and joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Donna Straus (nee Ritter); three children: Aaron Straus (Carianne), Sara Puckett (Eric) and Rachel Smith (Dillon); seven grandchildren: Gwyneth, Beckett, Reed and Amos Straus, Alec, Remi, and Lily Puckett and Isabel Smith; three siblings: Gary Straus (Debbie), Gayle Loos (Chris) and Glenna Woodyard (Leroy).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at Alexandria Funeral Home, 325 Washington Street, Alexandria, KY 41001. Funeral service10:30 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at the LifeGate Church, 1 Churchill Drive, Fort Thomas, KY 41075, with Pastor Henry Foster officiating.
In lieu of sending flower arrangements consider donating funds in Greg's name that will purchase a brick in his memory at Calvary Christian School where his children all graduated and his grandchildren attend.
