Grover Robert Langshaw

Bob was born to William and Meta Ward Langshaw on January 14, 1929, and grew up as part of a large family in Elsmere, Delaware. His automotive interests began at an early age and led him to building and racing his stock car 5X on the dirt tracks of the Wilmington Speedway, the Georgetown Speedway, and other regional tracks. As a mechanic, Bob established a reputation for diagnosing and repairing any engine problems. Often, he would arrive at a correct diagnosis by simply listening to or riding in a vehicle. He honed his skills and expertise as a top mechanic by working at various automotive dealerships, leading to the position of service manager at Sid Broughton Dodge (Kirkwood Dodge). Bob continued to build his career by establishing award-winning service departments at several other dealerships in Delaware and Florida. He was ultimately hired by the New Castle County Vo-Tech School District, where he became a valued instructor, teaching automotive and diesel technologies for 17 years. Upon retirement, he also taught automotive technology at Delaware Technical and Community College.

Bob married Doris Campbell on July 17, 1948, in New Castle, Delaware, and together they raised three children: Sandy, Bob, Jr., and Charlie. Bob and Doris loved being near the beach. They had a vacation home in Pot Nets where they spent nearly every weekend gathering with family and friends. After retirement, Bob and Doris moved to Pot Nets and the Long Neck area full-time. Doris died in 2008, and Bob continued to live out his remaining years at his home in the Long Neck area, where he made great friends with his neighbors. He is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, as well as his extended family of siblings, nieces, and nephews.
