Guillermo Maximo Rodriguez, 65, of Nutley, passed away on May 2, 2025.
Born in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, on June 8, 1959, Guill immigrated to the U.S. in 1972 after spending time in Spain. He grew up in Union City, NJ, graduating from Emerson High School and later working as a machinist at Teterboro Airport and DiMayo Packaging. Known for his love of mechanics, Guill had a gift for fixing anything and everything-always ready with a tool and a solution.
In 1995, he moved to Miami to care for his parents and, on a visit back to New Jersey, met the love of his life, Christina. They married and built a life together, raising two wonderful children, Olivia and Billy.
At age 37, Guill began a long battle with heart disease. After suffering multiple heart attacks, he received a lifesaving heart transplant-an answered prayer that gave him 13 more years with his family, years he lived with deep gratitude.
Guill is survived by his beloved wife Christina, his children Olivia and Billy, his sisters Delia (with husband Richard) and Gloria, and all those who loved and admired his strength, humor, and generous heart.
Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley, on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 5-8pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:30am.
Cremation will be private.
