Gunnar Hall, 90, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024. He was the loving husband of Maria (Andriopoulous) Hall for 66 years before his passing.
Born in Oslo, Norway, he was the son of the late Gudveig (Rasmussen) Hall and Eivind Hall.Gunnar met his wife while attending the University of Colorado at Boulder as a foreign student.
After further engineering studies at Columbia University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Gunnar worked as a Civil Engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation for thirty-three years, before retiring in Slingerlands, New York, in 2001.He and his wife moved to Bristol in 2016.
Gunnar was devoted to his wife, three children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.Gunnar was also a sportsman and his passion for skiing led him to volunteer for the Ski Patrol at Brodie Mountain in western Massachusetts. He was also an avid tennis player, and enjoyed wind surfing and hang gliding.
He is survived by his wife: Maria, his children: Ingrid H. Johnson (Michael), Jan Erik Hall (Sarah), Harald Alexander Hall (Dana); his grandchildren: Andrew C. Johnson (Makena), Alexandra Pickett (Alexander), Laura C. Hall, Julia C. Hansen (Eirik), Melissa C. Hall, Sophia I. Hall, Cristina M. Hall, Erik G. Hall; his great grandchildren: Chloe R. Johnson, Liv A. Johnson, and Vera M. Pickett; and by extended relatives and friends.
Gunnar was pre-deceased by his parents and his siblings: Per Hall, Jorunn Harildstad, and Helge Hall.
Gunnar was laid to rest at North Burial Ground surrounded by his family.
