Gwendolyn (Gwen) Lee Anderson, 73, of Hendersonville, Tennessee left her earthly home on Saturday, October 26, 2024 while being surrounded by her family. Born September 25,1951 in Nashville, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late Andy Briggs and Frances Marie Burkhalter.
Beginning at a young age, Gwen loved riding horses. She had a passion for horse competitions such as barrel racing, stake racing, and others in which she won many awards. Time was also spent at the Saddle Club enjoying friendships made there. This is also where she would meet the love of her life Jimmy Dale Anderson at the age of 14. When she was 17, they would be wed and spend 54 more years together. During this marriage, they had 3 daughters. Jimmy and Gwen would spend most of their time with family and participating in their hobbies such as fishing, hunting, bowling, and softball.
For 30+ years, Gwen enjoyed her employment which was driving a school bus for Sumner County. She did not realize it, but she would have the opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of many young children. Driving the bus also allowed her to drive students on band trips and field trips and attend many football games under the Friday Night Lights which she loved very much. During her summer breaks from driving the bus, she loved to spend that time at the beach with her 3 girls who she made a priority in her life. Daytona Beach was her favorite place as this is where her parents would bring her at a very young age. This was a tradition started by her parents which she passed on to her children as well.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Dale Anderson and her granddaughter Kandess Elizabeth Marie Turner.
She is survived by her brother Randall (Sue) Burkhalter; daughters Kelly Anderson, Kimberly (Cory) Turner, and Kacey Davis; devoted sister-in-law Tina Anderson; grandchildren Kaylee Anderson, Kody Turner, Kenzi Anderson, Zachary (Emilee)Scott, Kameron Davis, Kasen Anderson, Kristian Anderson; great grandson Rueben Randle, Jr.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 12:00pm from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Rd, Nashville, TN 37216 with Jeff Buford officiating.
