Mrs. Templer was born in Alton, Illinois, on June 6, 1951, daughter of the late William E. Holt and the late Katie M. Ward Holt. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Earnest Holt, Cornelius Holt, and Debra Holt. She graduated from Lincoln High School and then went on to graduate from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a paraprofessional for the Milwaukee public school system for 40 years. She was involved with the Roselette Dancers of Milwaukee.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Mr. Johnie Templer; her children, Felicia Ferguson, Darneda Washington (Lamonte), Gregory Harvey Jr., and Sarah Joiner; grandchildren, Booker McGee (Monique Rouse McGee), Natasha Stubbs (Anthony), Alania Harvey Carpenter (Brittany), Alexia Harvey, Amber McGee, Gregory Harvey III, Darnell Harvey, Kiseran Harvey, Kiwani Harvey, Latia Harvey, Monica Harvey, Monique Harvey, and Leeah Joiner; great grandchildren, Deja McGee, Kierra McGee, Darrius McGee, Kamyra McGee, Brooklynn McGee, Aniyah Stubbs, Anthony Stubbs, Ayden Stubbs, Cameron Stubbs, Alyvia Harvey, and Alaura Harvey; siblings, Arcola Edwards, Cora Jean Fann, Beverly Kay Laske, Ronald Holt, and Billie Jean Holt (Irwin Johnson); nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 3:00pm, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel. Minister Gregory Harvey Sr. will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 1:00pm until the hour of service at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel.
In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Templer will be cremated following the service.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Gwendolyn Holt Templer.

I was shocked to hear of Gwen's passing. I worked with Gwen at Juneau High School. We ate lunch together everyday for almost ten years. We had great lunches filled with laughter and sorrow.I will never forget how much she liked pretty nails and BINGO! Gwen spoke of her family often Johny please accept my deepest sympathies. To all of her children and grandchildren you had a great Mom and Grandmother. Rest in peace Gwen. God bless your family with beautiful memories of a beautiful person.
