Mrs. Jessie Lee Bennett, a woman of extraordinary strength, warmth, and wisdom, sadly passed away on July 18, 2025, in Rome, Georgia, at the age of 74.

Born on January 19, 1951, in Plainville, Georgia, Jessie was the daughter of the late Roy Lee Stephens and Ethel Stephens (formerly Sutton). She is also preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Channing Wallace, and her two twin baby brothers.

Jessie was the kind of woman who "wore the pants" in the best way-boldly, proudly, and without apology. She was the boss, the leader, and the guiding light for her family. Her home was a place of comfort and warmth, where no one ever left hungry and where her made-from-scratch biscuits were always in high demand. Jessie took immense pride in her role as a homemaker, but she was far more than that-she was a jack of all trades, able to fix, build, clean, organize, and lead, all in a day's work. Jessie was a woman of intelligence and had a special way of offering wisdom that stuck with you long after the conversation ended. She passed down life lessons as naturally as she did recipes, and her children and grandchildren will carry her words, and her strength, with them always.

Jessie found joy in the simple pleasures-fishing on a quiet afternoon, gathering with family, and watching her favorite cowboy shows. She had a particular love for gospel, and nothing lit her up quite like attending a good gospel singing where voices were raised in joy and faith. Jessie's personality was larger than life, as she was strong, spirited, and never afraid to speak her mind. She was the kind of woman who left an impression wherever she went. She was the cornerstone of her home and the heart of her family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Those left behind to honor her loving memory are her devoted husband of 38 years, Steve Bennett; her beloved children, Todd Duncan (Marla), Tina Duncan, Carrie Watters, and Ross Bennett (Ashley); her adoring grandchildren, Chapin Brookshire (Taylor), Kolbie Watters, Jagger Harmon, Kadence Clements (Elijah), Emily Taylor, Brandie Taylor, William Duncan, Delaney Bennett, and Dexter Bennett; her siblings, Von Stephens (Glenda), Howard Stephens (Becky), and Dixie Alexander; her great-grandchildren, Tate Brookshire and Ellie Brookshire; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 12:15 p.m. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Nevin Baker officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Ritchie Stephens, John Erwin, Todd Duncan, Jamie Stephens, Jeremy Stephens, and Brandon Taylor.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
