Herman Howard Haygood Sr.

Mr. Herman Howard Haygood, Sr., age 81, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at a hospital in Rome, GA.
Mr. Haygood was born in Rome, GA, on April 18, 1944, son of the late Herman Haygood and the late Mary Alice Poole Haygood. He was also preceded in death by 2 siblings, Callie Mae Haygood Wolf and Lamar Grady Haygood. Mr. Haygood retired after 33 years of service from the City of Rome, Transit Department, where he was the shop foreman. He was a member of Mountain Home Baptist Church.
Mr. Haygood was a tender man with a heart of gold. He would give his last dime to someone in need and help out in anyway he could. Mr. Haygood was a social butterfly and loved being around people. In his younger days he loved hunting and attending rodeos with his son Junior. A constant collector, Mr. Haygood was known to frequent yard sales and anywhere else he could find antiques. He loved watching any type of sport and the news. Mr. Haygood's legacy will live and he is now rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Wanda Kay Glendhill Haygood; 3 children, Herman Howard Haygood, Jr. (Cynthia), Cedartown, Christie Cagle (Matthew), Mansfield, and Peyton Haygood, Cedartown; 2 grandchildren, Nicole Leigh McCullough (Shane), and Mason Keith Cagle (Janna); a great-grandchild due in December; his brother, Edward Haygood (Kathy); nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Bro. Tracy Puckett officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 10:30am on Saturday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, and include; Adam Haygood, Shane McCullough, Mason Cagle, Chuck Barker, Cameron Ely, and Hayden Ely.
