H. Richard Dick Bowman, 78, of Creston, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022 at Akron General Medical Center. He and Sandy are together again.
Harold Richard Bowman was born on Jan. 29, 1944 in Ashland to the late Harold and Ruth Margery (Nettleton) Bowman and was a 1962 graduate of Norwayne High School having previously attended Wooster High School through his Junior year. On Oct. 13, 1963 he married Sandra Ann Croft and they had made their home on the family farm since their marriage. Sandy preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2020. Dick had been a farmer for many years and in 1983 established Sanmandy Enterprises which he and his family have operated for the past 38 years. He was an active member of Wayne Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Elder several times and he and Sandy had been the advisors for the Huddle Group. Dick had been active in the Wayne Co. Farm Bureau, Norwayne Music Boosters where he had served as President and Norwayne FFA having been honored as a Distinguished Member. He helped Sandy in the food stand at the Buckeye Machine Sale for many years and Dick always enjoyed giving of his time and serving others.
Surviving are his children and their spouses, Michael and Holly Bowman and Monica and Tim Trapp of Creston; his grandchildren, Trevor Bowman and Amyra Bowman; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Jay Nelson of Pulaski, TN; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Tom Sargeant of Wooster; brother-in-law, Daniel Shew of Delaware, OH and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy, his parents, a brother, Robert Bob Bowman and a sister-in-law, Marcella Shew.
Services will be Saturday, Sept. 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Wayne Presbyterian Church in Wooster with burial following in Canaan Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of services at the church.
