H. Elaine MacEwen Yourtee, 80, of Windham, NH, formerly of Salem, NH, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Windham Terrace.
She was born on August 5, 1944, to the late Franklin G. and Marion (Larkin) MacEwen in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Elaine was a registered nurse for many years, but found her true calling following her retirement in humanitarian efforts. Along with her husband, Dr. Edward L. Yourtee, she co-founded Nobody's Children, a non-profit organization that focused on helping children in need. Elaine helped children across the world by building orphanages, schools, and libraries to better young lives. She also helped educate doctors from Romania with supplying books and other means to expand knowledge around the world.
Elaine and her family loved spending summers at their family home in Stanley Bridge on Prince Edward Island. She and her family enjoyed the company of five golden retrievers over the years, and Elaine had a special bond with one, Mr. Gibson.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Dr. Edward L. Yourtee.
She is survived by her children Jonathan Yourtee and his partner Elsa Pettengill of Worcester, MA, Matthew Yourtee, and Sumiko Yourtee and her husband Wayne Rowe of Portland, OR; her siblings Eleanor Jardine and Frank MacEwen; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Carrier Family Funeral Home, Windham, NH. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.carrierfuneralhome.com
