Hal "Bub" Edge, age 80, passed away on April 16, 2025, in
Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born on November 20, 1944, in Amory, Mississippi, Hal lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and service to others. He was a former member of Crozet Baptist Church in Crozet, Virginia and East Heights Baptist Church in Tupelo, Mississippi and a current member of Cross Church in Fayetteville.
Hal graduated from Mississippi State University-an institution that would remain close to his heart throughout his life. A proud supporter of Mississippi State sports, he followed football, men and women's basketball, and baseball with unwavering enthusiasm. Fresh out of college, Hal began his career with Allstate Insurance in the back of a Sears store. His talent and work ethic quickly propelled him into Human Resources and eventually into the role of territory sales manager. His professional path took him from Clinton, Mississippi to Roanoke and Manassas in Virginia before settling in Charlottesville, where he retired. Retirement did not slow Hal down; instead, he launched his own business mentoring aspiring insurance agents and helping them prepare for certification exams-a testament to his passion for teaching and guiding others. Hal was deeply committed to his faith and community. An active participant in church life throughout the years, he served as a deacon and mentor and helped lead Financial Peace programs. His belief in Jesus Christ was central to his life and evident in the relationships he built through service and fellowship. He found joy in many pursuits outside of work. Whether antique shopping or refinishing vintage finds in his workshop, grilling for friends and family, or planning his next travel adventure, Hal approached every activity with energy and enthusiasm. He especially loved working in his yard, a place where he found both peace and purpose. Hal was a devoted husband to Dianne and cherished time spent with loved ones. He is remembered by those closest to him for his warmth, generosity of spirit, and unwavering support.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne son Chad Edge, and his wife Jessica of Richmond, Virginia, and their daughter Savannah; daughter Candace Harper and her husband Brae of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and their son Riggs; sister Coleen Roberts and her husband Junior, along with numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Marlin Edge and mother Jo Nell Armstrong Loucks.
A man of deep conviction and boundless energy, Hal leaves behind a legacy of mentorship, faithfulness, and love. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
