Halford Bruce "Hal" Scott passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 27, 2025, in the arms of his loving wife, Judy, and sister, Sharon.
Born in
Muncie, Indiana, on August 26, 1949, Hal lived a life filled with warmth, humor, and love. He was known for his kindness, humor, and his unwavering willingness to never give up, no matter what was going on in his life. He will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know and love him as a brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Hal was very proud of working for, in his own words, "your favorite soft drink company... Pepsi Cola." He was also a very talented organist, sharing his gift of music by playing for church, skating rinks, and friends. He felt privileged to have earned a music scholarship to Ball State University through the American Guild of Organists (AGO), which gave him the opportunity to explore his love of classical music.
Hal and Judy traveled as often as possible. They loved to cruise together, and with family and friends. Hal never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to new people and seeing new places. He was always accepting of others and loved learning about their lives and their homes, whether in the United States or from other countries around the world.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Gene Scott, brothers, Jeff Scott and Randy Noble, mother and father-in-law, Bob and Jean Thompson, brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Susan Thompson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Larry Wright; his twin brother, Brad Scott; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Kevin Deloach; 28 nieces and nephews; and friends too numerous to list - especially Jens Juel, son/foreign exchange student, and Kathy and Harry Minnich.
A Mass will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Muncie. No public viewing is scheduled, as requested by Hal. Burial will take place at Elm Ridge Memorial Park in Muncie, directly following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church or to an animal rescue of the donor's choice. Also, per Hal's request, his pacemaker will be donated to Purdue University's College of Veterinary Medicine Cardiology Program to provide a life-saving treatment for a dog with a heart condition.
The family would like to thank the IU Ball Memorial and IU Methodist Hospital Cardiology Department doctors, nurses, and staff for the support, care, and friendship given to Hal during his illness.
Hal's gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, is entrusted with all arrangements.
