Mrs. Hannah Ruth Frey Craig, 84, of Lewisville, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 7, 1941, in Robertson County, TN, to Paul Raymond Frey and Clemmie Ora Smith Frey, the 5th of 8 children.
Hannah lived her life in the service of others. She was a public school teacher for 25 years, profoundly impacting the lives of countless children with her nurturing and inspiring presence. She led a committed prison ministry for 10 years, forming lifelong relationships with many participants through her compassionate outreach. She volunteered her time in many organizations within her community, always striving to uplift and help others.
Her faith was foundational to her life; she loved God and spent her days loving others. Whether one was family, friend or stranger, Hannah brought love, acceptance and a sense of belonging. As a devout Baptist, she served tirelessly in her church communities, most recently Temple Baptist where she was a devoted member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wayne Craig. Surviving are her two children, Cynthia Smith (Kenneth) and Wayne Craig (Kimberly); four grandchildren, Zachary Craig (Kathleen), Sydney Lampe (Jacob), Dylan Smith, and Cooper Smith; two great-grandchildren, Vivian Craig and Owen Lampe; one sister, Jane McKee (Jerry); and one brother, William Frey.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. A funeral service will be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens in Hendersonville, TN, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. CDT, a service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CDT, and burial at 3:00 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
