Hans Schages STUARTS DRAFT

Hans Schages, 84, of Stuarts Draft, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

Born May 18, 1924, in Krefeld-Fischeln, West Germany, a son of the late Johann and Wilhelmine Huppertz Schages.

Mr. Schages had worked in the grounds and maintenance department at Hollister Inc. in Stuarts Draft, where he retired after 11 years of service. He was a member of Mt. View Mennonite Church and loved woodworking, puzzles, garden-ing/yard work and traveling.

In addition to his parents, brothers and sisters, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hanny Louise Schages and his second wife, Merle Lantz Schages.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Hans H. Schages and his wife, Elizabeth, and Peter P. Schages and his wife, Georgie, all of Stuarts Draft; three daughters, Margret H. Lucas and her husband, Michael, Christa S. Cale and her husband, Mark, and Joan C. Coffey and her husband, Pat Jr., all of Waynesboro; 14 grandchildren, Eddie and Kelly Schages, Jeff Sims, Timothy Lucas and his wife, Gina, Amy Lucas Bryant and her husband, James, Tony Schages and his wife, Kim, Tonya Schages Potter and her husband, Tracy, Megan and Stephanie Cale, Alana Sackett, Melissa, Katelyn, Gwendolyn and Joseph Coffey; and 14 great- grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Mt. View Mennonite Church with Pastor Earl Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Mt. View Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 208, Lyndhurst, VA 22952; Wilson Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 157, Lyndhurst, VA 22952; or to a charity of choice.

My condolences and sympathies to the Schages family first, and secondly, to thank you all for "sharing" your Dad, and Granddad with me for the past 63 years. He has been my "second daddy" and I loved him dearly. I will most certainly miss him, but his spirit will never die. Bob Wenger
