Hansel Turner Morris was reunited with his parents in heaven on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Born on June 10, 1942, Hansel was the son of the late Clemmie J. and Christine Morris. He was raised in Oak Park, Georgia, and graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1960. He continued his education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) and later attended Georgia Southern University.
In 1964, Hansel married the love of his life, Gail. They made their home in Middle Georgia, first in Macon and later in Warner Robins. Hansel dedicated 42 years of service to Robins Air Force Base, where he worked as a computer programmer and civil engineer before retiring.
Following retirement, Hansel and Gail settled at Lake Sinclair, where he spent his days fishing, boating, and enjoying the peace of lake life. Hansel especially loved watching sunsets over the water with his family. His greatest joy was being a “Pop,” cherishing every moment spent with his grandchildren.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Hansel was a devoted member of The Well (formerly, Centerville Methodist Church) since 1966, where he served faithfully for many years. He was also deeply involved in his community, serving over a decade on the Centerville City Council and as a member of the Middle Georgia Community Action Board.
Hansel had a passion for music, especially the songs of Willie Nelson and Glen Campbell. He will be remembered for his faith, gentle spirit, and kind heart. Known for his wonderful cooking and willingness to help anyone in need, Hansel embodied the values of love and service. He treasured time with his family, particularly during the holidays and his warmth and generosity will live on in all who knew him.
Hansel’s life was a testament to faith, family, and friendship. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Gail Morris of Warner Robins; children, Melisa Morris Beckham (Gene) of Marrietta, Michele Lee Morris of Savannah; grandchildren, Harper Beckham Gosch (Mary Belle), Web Beckham; siblings, Dawn Covert (Bill) and Chris Morris (Millie); as well as nieces and nephews, Heather Covert Anderson, Paul Covert, Christopher Morris, Lauren Morris Dukes.
