It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harlan Thomas Barnett on May 19, 2024 in Springfield, Missouri. Harlan was born on September 22, 1951 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Logan Barnett and Fay (Gardner) Barnett.
Harlan was a 1970 graduate of Hurley High School and a United States Army veteran of more than 30 years. His service included participation in the radiological cleanup of the Enewetak nuclear testing grounds, as well as serving in Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm.
In addition to his military service, Harlan was an expert mechanic, able to fix anything with an engine, an avid tinkerer, amateur gardener, motorsports enthusiast and was also accomplished at firearm restoration.
He is survived by his wife Chin Barnett, sons Bobby Barnett, Fred Barnett, Franky Barnett, and Johny Barnett, daughter-in-law Mandi Barnett, grandchildren Bobby Barnett, Jr., Sean Barnett, Brianna Barnett, Brooklyn Barnett, Maci Barnett, Ava Barnett, Henry Barnett, and Finley Barnett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Logan and Fay, sister Dorothy, brother Freddie, and favorite son Mink.
The family of Harlan Thomas Barnett would like to thank each of you for your kind expressions of love, prayer and support during our time of sorrow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to consider making donations to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri (https://www.swh.org/donate.html) or other animal shelters in need.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 27, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South with burial to follow at White Cemetery near Hurley, MO.
