Harold Brewer Obituary
He was born October 23, 1931, in Star City, Indiana to the late William Brewer and Evelyn Oldfield Brewer.
On July 26, 1953, in Hammond, Indiana, he was united in marriage to the former Carol Joan ODell. Together they celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary. Carol preceded her husband in death July 12, 2017.
Harold was a decorated veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam war. He was a member of the Democratic Club of Clinton Township and was involved with the Clinton Township Sister City Exchange with Japan. He traveled to Japan many times as well as the Philippines. Memorable anniversary trips with his wife included their 25th anniversary trip to Hawaii and the 50th anniversary trip to England.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Mark, Jana and Kevin (Tammie) Brewer. He was the proud grandfather of Ryan Brewer and Kaitlin (Jay) Bennett. The family tree grows stronger with the addition of great granddaughter Bailee Bennett. Nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main, Mount Clemens, Michigan. Additional visitation will be on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm also in the funeral home. On Saturday, August 24, 2024, Mr. Brewer will lie in state at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 47120 Romeo Plank, Macomb, Michigan at 9:30 am. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am in the church. Burial with United States Navy military honors will follow at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan.
