Harold Raymond "Butch" Gruneisen

Harold Raymond "Butch" Gruneisen, age 79, died on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Norton Women & Children's Hospital.
Born in Louisville to the late Harold and Anna May Gruneisen, Butch was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and Spalding University and worked for the old Western Electric Co.
He is survived by the love of his life, Pam Kimbley Gruneisen, his wife of 60 years; his daughters, Dawn Blair (Tommy), and Wendy Gruneisen-Dreisbach (Pat); his loving older sister, Mary Carol Buckler; his 5 grandchildren, Trey Blair (Jessica), Amanda Maldonado (Milos), Hunter Haedtler (Meredith), Abigail Blair (Kayla), and Hollice Haedtler; and 7 great grandchildren.
Butch Gruneisen left this world too soon, but the life he led was truly a wonderful experience. While the love for his family and friends was unrivaled, there is no secret that the New York Yankees, Notre Dame, and fried chicken were not far behind.
Everywhere Butch went, he knew someone. From his beginnings stomping around the streets of Germantown and the halls of Holy Family, to his travels from Decatur Street to the mountains of East Tennessee. His time the spent on the ball diamond coaching his daughters, or in the Elks Lodge, Aero Club, or the Bonnycastle where he was always a warm presence, Butch would find a way to make you smile and make you feel like a part of his family. He will be missed more than can be imagined. So raise your glass of Old Fitz, Killian's Red, or Drambuie, and say goodbye to one of the most loving, genuine, and sincere old Germans you'll ever know.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1960 Bardstown Road, with burial to follow in St. Louis Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
