Harold "Hank" Greer
Harold "Hank" Greer died peacefully on November 10, 2025, in his home, in Fairfield, CT, surrounded by his family. He was 91 years old.
Born on March 25th, 1934, in Teaneck, New Jersey, Hank hailed from a large and loving family, including his parents, Elsie and Eddie Greer, his brothers, Dick, Jerry, and Roger, and his sister, Nancy.
A graduate of Fordham University in 1955, Hank was an avid Fordham Rambler and member of the ROTC. After college, he served in the United States Air Force as a navigator, retiring as a Captain. He spoke fondly of his short career in the Air Force, reminiscing often about flying to Europe, Iceland and Greenland during his time in the service.
Hank had a long and successful career in marketing and advertising, beginning with AMF Bowling in 1959, followed by RCA Records, where he worked with artists such as Hank Snow, Ann Margret, Perry Como, Harry Belafonte and Sam Cooke. His times working in "show business" were some of his fondest memories, and spoke to his great love of music that would be a throughline in the rest of his life.
After RCA, Hank worked at Grey Advertising for 16 years, managing accounts for prestigious brands, including Canon Camera, General Electric, Sentry Insurance, Acme Boots, and more. He was especially proud of the entertainment specials Grey produced for Sentry that featured stars such as Tony Bennett, Lena Horne, Ray Charles, and Gene Kelly, to name a few. At the William Esty Company, Hank was instrumental in winning back the Minolta business. He retired from advertising as Executive Vice President at Saatchi & Saatchi.
A longtime resident of the Upper East Side and proud New Yorker, Hank and his family moved to Fairfield, Connecticut, in 1995, where he continued to share his marketing and musical talents with smaller organizations, his church, and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, where he worked as Marketing Director.
Hank is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sherry Bloomfield Greer, and his children, April Greer, Peter Greer, Barbara Greer Hopkins, and Katie Greer, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22nd, at 11 am, at Southport Congregational Church (524 Pequot Ave., Southport, CT 06890).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Southport Congregational Church Ministry of Music Fund (PO BOX 366, Southport CT, 06890, or online at
