Harold Dean Johnson Jr., 63, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his home in Peachtree City, Georgia on February 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on March 8, 1961, in Wooster, Harold was the beloved son of the late Harold Senior and Billie Marie (Crouse) Johnson. He graduated from Norwayne High School in 1979.
On July 27, 2011, he married his wife Michelle (Abel) in Sedona, Arizona, and she survives.
Harold had a distinguished career in IT for over 44 years, solving problems and building relationships; finally retiring on February 10, 2023. He spent 20 of those years working for Bell + Howell in Wooster.
He was a man who found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life and shared that joy with those around him. With his strong opinions, and love of a lively debate, he never lacked in conversation topics or met a stranger in his travels. He loved driving through neighborhoods admiring homes and finding features that he desired in his next one.
He enjoyed wandering through stores, especially home improvement stores like Home Depot, where every aisle held the promise of a new project. His golf cart rides with his wife and their loyal dog, Parker, were a treasured routine in his last few years. They enjoyed cruising together on the Peachtree City cart paths and meeting up with friends. And wherever he was, whatever the moment, Harold was always ready to belt out a song- loudly and with heart.
Harold's favorite role, by far, was being a grandpa. He treasured every moment with them. His love for them was boundless, and he leaves behind cherished memories that will last forever.
In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by daughters Heather (Dillon) Collins of Lodi and Ashley (Steven) Talarcek of Lewis Center, Sister Kris Hauff, Step-Daughter Molly, and his cherished grandchildren- Emerson, Elizabeth, Sophia, Cameron, and Oliver. In addition, he leaves behind a niece, nephews, and many extended family and friends.
A service will be held to honor his life on Saturday March 1st, 2025, 12:00 p.m.at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastor Dillon Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery.
To help us honor his memory, the family asks that you take a drive through a neighborhood, stroll through a store just for fun, or sing whatever song is stuck in your head at the top of your lungs- just as Harold would have done.
Harold's warmth, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and the many memories he left behind. May he rest in peace, in the loving arms of Jesus.
