Harold W. Lewis Jr.

HAROLD W. LEWIS JR. Harold W. Lewis Jr, 89, of Binghamton, NY was called home to be with his Savior and reunited with his beloved wife, Ethel Jane of 66 years in Heaven on August 19, 2025. Ethel went ahead of him on February 7, 2022. He was also predeceased by his parents, Harold W. Sr. and Jessie Davenport Lewis; by his step mother, Mabel Lewis; two sisters, Betty DeGroat and Jean Baker; and by a daughter, Mary Mercincavage. He is survived by five children, Hal (June) Lewis, Sue (John) Krause, Russ (Jo Ann) Lewis, Phil Lewis, and Dan (Lillnette) Lewis; son-in-law, David Mercincavage; former daughter-in-law, Joyce Lewis; 14 grandchildren, Tosh (Michelle) Lewis, Tats Lewis, Stephen Melton, Alex Krause, Russ Jr. (Tiffany) Lewis, Rich (Amanda) Lewis, Chris (Ani) Mercincavage, Amy (Jonas) Erickson, Pete (Bethany) Mercincavage, Nathaniel (Isa) Mercincavage, Isaac Mercincavage, Kylie Ingraham, Hannah Lewis, and Scout Lewis; 17 great grandchildren, Maria Lewis, Mitchio Lewis, Riley Melton, Jordan (Brooke) Paugh, Cyle Lewis, Mya Lewis, Alexis Lewis, Mashala (Nick) Hernandez, Caitlin (Randy) Buck, Madison Lewis, Olivia Lewis, Max Mercincavage, Charlie Mercincavage, Brayden Erickson, Logan Erickson, Mary Jane Erickson, and Finley Mercincavage; two great great grandchildren, Edward Hernandez and Maxim Buck; a sister, Amy Komorny; two half siblings, Mary and Tony Joe; and several nieces and nephews. Harold "Bub" graduated from North High School, Binghamton University, and earned his Doctorate from the University of South Florida later on in life. He believed education was a lifelong endeavor. Bub served with the United States Marine Corps and the National Guard. He worked at IBM for 30 years. Harold also taught Anthropology at Davis College and SUNY Cortland. He was a member of First Christian Church, Kirkwood, Necker Valley Baptist Church, in Boeblingen, Germany, and then Valley View Alliance, Vestal, NY. His accomplishments were achieved "very carefully and with a great deal of professionalism." He was devoted to the love of his life and wife, Ethel Jane. Together they instilled their faith, love, and devotion to their family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA, with Reverend Cyrus English officiating. Interment will be made in Brookdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the service.
