Harold Fletcher MacDonald, known affectionately as Mac to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 22, 2025, at the age of 84 in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania. Born on January 5, 1941, in Philadelphia, Harold was a man of unwavering faith, kindness, and gentle spirit. His life was a testament to the love and joy he brought to all who knew him.
Harold's early years were spent in the vibrant neighborhoods of Upper Darby, where he was raised by the late Harold MacDonald and Margaret McKinney. He grew up alongside his sister, the late Dorothy (Dot) Hughes, sharing in the close-knit family bonds that would continue to be a defining aspect of his life. Harold was a proud graduate of Upper Darby High School, where he made lifelong friendships and memories. Following his graduation, he honorably served his country for two years in the United States Army, a time that instilled in him a sense of discipline and pride that he carried throughout his life.
After his service, Mac built a fulfilling career with Westinghouse and later Royal Electric, where he was respected by colleagues for his dedication and integrity. His professional life was a testament to his belief in hard work and perseverance, values he passed on to his children.
Harold lived his faith through his actions, treating everyone he met with respect and compassion.
Mac's interests outside of work were diverse and centered around his love for his family. He was an avid soccer and softball player, sharing his passion for sports with his children and grandchildren. Motorcycling was another of Mac's favorite pastimes, offering him the freedom and joy of the open road. But above all, his greatest pleasure was found in the simple moments spent with his family. He was a pillar of strength and support, always there to offer a kind word or a helping hand.
Mac leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rona MacDonald; his daughter, Dena Arietta, and son-in-law, Wayne Arietta; his son, Rob MacDonald, and daughter-in-law, Kellie MacDonald; his daughter, Suzanne MacDonald; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole MacDonald, Michael Felici, Elena Felici, Nicholas MacDonald, and Ryan MacDonald; and his adored great-grandchildren, Kaden Kyle, McKenzie Kyle, and Carter Rodgers.
Harold was a man whose kindness touched the lives of many. His loving nature and gentle demeanor were the hallmarks of his character. He was a man who lived by example, showing others the power of a kind heart and a gentle spirit. Harold's memory will be cherished and kept alive by the countless stories and memories shared by those who loved him.
As we bid farewell to Harold Fletcher MacDonald, we celebrate a life lived with grace, love, and a deep sense of purpose. His journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the impact of his life will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege to know him. Harold will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his extraordinary life.

My heart actually hurts, I learned today Harold had passed on Sat, he and Rona always meant so much to me and often I think of them and bc they are my daughters Grandparents Id ask about them. Harold was so funny, had a way with his stories of giving you a lesson with a comedic twist he had said to not take life too seriously. He was important to me esp back then and only amazing example I knew of a great Dad, until his Rob became my daughters father, thank you Harold for raising your boy into a great man and Dad. Beautiful legacy love to Rona Rob Dena Suzy & Kellie Nicole Nick & Ryan
