Mr. John Fitzgerald Lawler, 61 a resident of the world but most recently Dallas, Georgia, passed away quietly with his family. Dedicated Husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.
Born April 3, 1964, in Folsom PA to the late William John Lawler and the late Martha Catherine Purcell Lawler. He was named after President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. He was the third child of seven and the second son. His siblings are the late Kathleen Martha Lawler (Carlisle Landel, husband), William J. Lawler III (Patti), Christopher J. Lawler, Joseph R. Lawler, Daniel J. Lawler, and Timothy E. Lawler (Amy).
He attended Our Lady of Peace Catholic grade school and Ridley High School in Folsom, Pennsylvania. He attended Delaware County Community College for a short time studying electrical engineering where he found his love of the power generation industry and the stable work that it offered. Working as a machinist/field service technician for Chalmers and Kubeck in Aston PA where he acquired the skills to quickly move on. He found a job as a power plant technician assisting in the building and commissioning of the Delaware County Resource Recovery facility in Chester, PA. After Westinghouse, his career took him to many places building, installing, and servicing Power generation stations around the world. He found employment with Oglethorpe Power/ Southern Company in completing a pumped storage hydroelectric station project at Rocky Mountain Hydroelectric station in Rome, GA which is where he met his wife Stephanie Leigh Bray. John and Stephanie have five children. Garrett Thomas Ferdinand Lawler (Carrie), Evan Michael Lawler, Liam Xander Lawler, Everleigh Anne Giselle Lawler, and Finnegan John Lawler.
Later he went on to work for ABB-Alstom, Richmond Virginia/ Baden Switzerland installing and servicing many gas turbine/combined cycle power stations. Finally John ended his career working for General Electric Company in Atlanta, GA, where he has spent the last 20+ years installing and servicing power generation equipment from Westinghouse, Siemens, ABB-Alstom and General Electric engines in places including North America, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, India, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait and Europe.
John considered himself a citizen of the world as he traveled to so many places, experienced so many cultures, and submerged himself in local people, foods, customs, religions, and activities. He said "If there was one thing I learned while being in so many places is that People don't hate each other, governments hate each other, and we the world are stuck in the middle" "I have seen many places however my greatest trips included my wife in Svalbard Norway where we hiked a glacier and watched to northern lights and fed the reindeer and our travels to Switzerland, France, and Germany" Some more memorable assignments included Scotland, Russia, China, and Europe. Antarctica and Africa were on his bucket list.
John was a dedicated father who helped with coaching baseball and being on the high school marching band's pit crew. When not traveling for work you would find him on vacations crabbing and finding new adventures with his children. John was devoted to his family, church, and community.
John is preceded in death by his parents William J Lawler and Martha Catherine Lawler, his sister Kathleen Martha Lawler, and a daughter Amberleigh Romelle. He is survived by his wife Stephanie and their children: Everleigh Lawler, Garrett Lawler (Carrie), Evan Lawler, Liam Lawler, and Finnegan Lawler. He is also survived by his brothers, Billy Lawler (Patti), Chris Lawler, Joe Lawler, Dan Lawler, and Tim Lawler (Amy), as well as five nieces, three nephews, one great-niece, and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Purcell Lawler, and his sister, Kathleen Lawler.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his memorial visitation on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 10-11 AM at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Milmont Ave., Folsom, where Mass will be at 11 AM. Burial to follow in Ss Peter and Paul Cemetery.
