Harold "Handsome Harold" Matt Mannisto 76, of Manistique, Michigan died at home after a long battle with cancer on September 13, 2023. He was born October 17, 1946, to George and Isabelle (Kelly) Mannisto. He attended Munising High School.
He met his best friend and partner Sally Lewis, at work in 1965 and reconnected in 2005 and have been together ever since. Harold worked in Logging as a log sawyer.
To know Harold was to love Harold. He had the best sense of humor, never knowing what he was going to say next. He was unpredictable, he had a quick wit, was a born flirt, and had a big soft heart. He was a character, and his grandson would say he was the best grandpa.
He spent the majority of his life living in the U.P. enjoying all that it has to offer, especially the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were two of his favorite pastimes. Harold and Sally took great pleasure traveling always looking forward to their next great adventure. They visited 25 States in one year collecting a lifetime worth of memories along the way. Harold loved to sing and did so often. He cherished his only daughter Heather. He would boast that he was the only one who could rock her to sleep while sweetly serenading her.
Harold is survived by his daughter Heather (Chris) Eau Claire, WI, partner Sally Lewis, and three grandsons, Devin (Emma), Wyatt and Rourke. Brothers Howard Mannisto of AuTrain, Michigan; Kenny Mannisto of Tuscan, AZ; Elizabeth "Ta" Buckmaster, Autrain, MI; and Clara "TD" (Steve) Rochefort.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Isabelle Mannisto, his siblings George (Millie) Mannisto, Hilma (Dick) Root, Mary (Jerry) Thompson, Charles "Pete" Mannisto and James "Jimmy" Mannisto.
A Celebration of Life service will be announced by the family at a later date. Donations in Harold's name may be made to the family for future designation. Fausett Family Funeral Homes will assist with the arrangements.
