Harold E. Redenbaugh

Harold E. Redenbaugh, age 91, of Storm Lake, Iowa died March 2, 2025 at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.
Memorial services will take place Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at the CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be disbursed to Harold's favorite charities. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Harold Emerson Redenbaugh was born April 2, 1933 to Orvel & Vernie (Meyer) Redenbaugh in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was baptized on April 6, 1947 at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake. Harold was later confirmed on June 4, 1961 at St John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Growing up, Harold attended Storm Lake schools, graduating in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force June 6, 1952 with his friend Doug Hussey. Harold served in Korea from March 1953 to March 1954 as a flight mechanic, 12th tactical and received several service awards. He separated from the Air Force on June 5, 1956, and was honorably discharged on June 5, 1960.
On December 19, 1959, Harold was married to Janice A. (Lange) in Storm Lake at the St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Mueller. This union was blessed with four children: Mark, Michael, Tim, Molly, and foster boys.
Harold attended Buena Vista College, then enrolled in Thermo-King refrigeration mechanical school in 1962. He worked at Reckoff Oil Truck Stop as a refrigeration specialist. After Mahlon Reckoff's passing, Harold also served as manager of the truck stop from April 1967 to 1979. After a short time in Spencer, he returned to Storm Lake Truck and Trailer in Storm Lake in 1982.
Harold served as Commander of VFW posts in Storm Lake for nine years, and was a lifelong member of the VFW in Alta, Iowa. He was a faithful member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where he served as a bell ringer, usher, elder, and several years as trustee. Before video, he made audio recordings of services and delivered the tapes to shut-ins. Harold served on the Storm Lake School Board, and helped clean up the lake shore as president of the Volunteer Parks Board under mayor Sandy Madson.
In his free time, Harold enjoyed bowling, fishing, music, camping for 41 years, square dancing, "The Cobb", skating, his Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., and being with people. More than anything, Harold loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Jan; his children: Mark (Lynn) Redenbaugh, Tim Redenbaugh, Molly (John Riley) Redenbaugh; grandchildren: Tyler (Maggie Hibbs) Redenbaugh, Michael (Samantha Jung) Redenbaugh, Haley (Brock) Berry; great-grandchild due in April; in-laws: Phyllis Lange, Sheila Redenbaugh, Linda (Steve) Struthers; extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Redenbaugh; parents: Orvel & Vernie Redenbaugh; stepmother: Margaret Redenbaugh; brothers: Marvin Eugene, Charles, Bill; in-laws: Albert & Irene (Johnson) Lange, Bill & Vee Tutt, LeRoy Lange, Judy & Jim Yager, and Melvin Lange.
