Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Inc. - Clinton on Dec. 22, 2025.
Harold Douglas Rose entered his eternal home on Sunday morning December 21, 2025.

Harold was born on October 21, 1939 in Clinton, Tennessee where he was a life-long resident. He was a follower of Jesus Christ, dedicated in his study of God's word, and a faithful member of Hillvale Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to graduating from Clinton High School, Harold was one of the early graduates from Roane State Community College's Fire Science program where he earned an associates degree.

Harold's life was one of service. While still in high school he was a volunteer for the Clinton Fire Department. He served six years in the United States Army followed by a time working at the Clinton Fire Department, an organization he was friend to throughout his life.

After working for the Fire Department in Clinton, he then served as Fire Chief at Oak Ridge National Labs up until his retirement after 33 years of service in 2000.

His service to the community included time in the 1970s as an alderman on the Clinton City Council. During his term of office, the Clinton Community Center and Lakefront Park were both opened.

His life of service continued after his retirement performing countless projects for neighbors, his church, and those in need.

Harold is survived by his son Kevin Rose and wife Cindy of Louisville, Kentucky; his daughter Kristina Tosh and husband Keith of Cookeville, Tennessee; grandchildren Will Rose and wife Christina, Sam Rose and wife Maddie, Jake Tosh and wife Julianne, Luke Tosh and wife Anessa; and eight great-grandchildren; his sister Glenna and his brother Jim.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carol; his parents (Glenn and Lula); and a sister (Pat Wilson).

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 at Hillvale Missionary Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will follow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Clinton Firemen's Association (City of Clinton, 100 North Bowling Street, Clinton, TN 37716). Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Holleygamble.com
