Harold A. Wiegert, 89, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 11th, 2025, at home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church in St. Donatus. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #6. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, Iowa, is assisting the family.
Harold was born on September 10, 1935, in Bellevue, Iowa, the son of Albert and Elda (Felderman) Wiegert. He served his country in the US Army in Korea for two years followed by two years with the reserves. He worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa until it closed. He later worked as a machinist for Caterpillar Tractor along with farming until his retirement. He enjoyed farming, especially his livestock.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in St. Donatus along with American Legion Post #6.
He is survived by his brothers, Eldon Wiegert of Loveland, CO, and Albert Wiegert Jr. of Maquoketa; his sister-in-law, Rita Wiegert; and his nieces and nephews: Duane Beck, Reynold Wiegert, Rhonda (Mark) Hefel, Sheila (Bill) Norris, and Amy (Doug) Wiegert-Kenshol. He is also survived by numerous cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Laverne (Mary) Wiegert, Raymond Wiegert, and Alverda (John) Beck; his sisters-in-law, Sandy Wiegert and Judy Wiegert; and his nephews, Roland Wiegert and David Beck.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church in St. Donatus.
