Canton – Harry Woodrow Fish, 100, born May 22nd. 1925 in Haywood County N.C. Went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 4, 2025. A resident of Haywood, NC, Harry worked at Champion International for 42 years, where he then retired in 1988. Harry was a lifetime farmer raising beef cattle where he really showcased his work ethic. At 89 years old he still had 38 head of Cattle he was tending to.
Harry was a loyal member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years. Harry was a great Dad, never missing a sports game for his children all through high school and college with the commitment extended to attending every football game that their son Woody coached for Gardner Webb University. Education was very important to Harry, ensuring all his children attended college and obtained degrees. Harry was very active in his community, playing a big part in attendance of the games held by Pisgah High School Athletics. Harry was a friend to all. He never met a stranger. Harry achieved the Al-Cline Service Award, but most of all Harry loved to be with his family.
Harry was the son of the late Charlie C. Fish and Althea Jane Webb Fish. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Clyde, Nephews Jimmy and Gary Fish, daughter Brenda Fish Hardin (Dave), daughter in law Pam Fish, and his beloved wife of 61 wonderful years, Sarah Hendrix Fish who passed away in August of 2009.
Left to cherish his memory are Sons Woody Fish, Randy Fish (Lee Ann), and daughter Sharon Fish Marshall (Jeffery Powell). Grandchildren; Brandon Templeton, Patrick Fish, Brad Hardin, Chase Hardin, and Katherine Wulf. Great-grandchildren; Harrison Hayes, Collins Templeton, Vivian and Abram Hardin, Noah and Brooks Hardin, Beatrice and Theodore Wulf.
Funeral services are scheduled at Wells Funeral Home in Canton, on Saturday November 8th, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Wells Funeral Home of Canton from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Burial will follow service at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road in Canton where Harry will receive Navy Honors.
