Harry Joe Whitaker

H.J. Whitaker, born Harry Joe Whitaker on June 12, 1936, in Mills River, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, in Horse Shoe, North Carolina. He was 87 years old.
H.J. led a fulfilling life as a proud milk hauler and farmer, finding joy in his work every day. Beyond his professional endeavors, he had a passion for hunting and cherished the moments spent with his dear friends.
He is reunited in eternity with his parents Dave Whitaker and Mary Sitton Whitaker, his beloved wife Joanne Suttles Whitaker, and his brothers Raymond and Ben Whitaker, as well as his sister Dot Redmond.
H.J. will be deeply missed by his loving daughters Lavonne Fulle (Robert) and Kim Carpenter (Phil) of Mills River, along with his cherished grandchildren Kyle, Ethan, and Hunter Fulle, and Katie Bryson. He is also survived by his three great-grandchildren Gavin and Emma Fulle and Evie Jo Bryson.
A Private Graveside service will be held at the Whitaker-Moore Cemetery to honor H.J.'s memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to your favorite charity in his honor.
