Harvey W. Landgraf

Harvey W. Landgraf, of Pompton Plains, N.J., passed away peacefully at Cedar Crest on May 13, 2025. He would have been 104 years old on June 12.
Harvey was born in Orange, N.J., and grew up in Newark, where he attended Central High School. He went on to study Mechanical Engineering at Newark College of Engineering. When the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred on December 7, 1941, Harvey and several friends decided to enlist in the Air Force on December 14, 1941. He became a Captain, Chief Armament Officer, and Bombardier during WWII in the Pacific, serving for four years. He was very proud of his service and would talk about his experiences to everyone-over and over again!
After serving in the Air Force, he worked for Westinghouse and Curtis Wright Aeronautical. He also owned his own businesses - Central Engineering, Central Software, and TriState Engineering.
Harvey will be remembered for his sunny personality-always smiling and laughing. His wartime stories will be remembered by all of us, forever. He loved his time spent at Cedar Crest with friends and his cousin, Doris. He was very often seen in the pool, at the gym, in the lounge playing cards, on his balcony, or on his computer. He loved playing solitaire every day while at Mountain View Gardens, where he received exceptional care from the staff he truly loved.
Harvey was predeceased by his wife, Grace (Pescatore) of 45 years, who passed in 1998; parents, Betty and Wolf; cousins, Betty Shreehan (Pete), Doris Marcavage (John), and Lorraine Mattos (Art). Harvey also lost many friends he met while living at Cedar Crest.
Harvey is survived by his nieces, Pat Mattos (Dani), Sharin Csanyi and son Michael, Val Little (Bob), Linda Constantino, and Michelle Adamski (Paul).
