Harvey Olison Jr.

Harvey Olison, Jr., age 85 of New Orleans, La. entered eternal rest on November 4, 2025, in New Orleans, La. He was born on October 22, 1940, in New Orleans, Harvey married Betty Ann Skinner Nelson, with whom he fathered Harvey Olison III. He later fathered Jermaine Ezekiel Anthony Sr. with Rosalyn Anthony Haywood. He also married Mary Barber Olison and for the last 30 years shared his life with his devoted companion, Mrs. Shirley Calvin. Harvey is survived by his devoted and loving companion, Mrs. Shirley Calvin, sons: Harvey Olison III, and Jermaine Anthony Sr., daughters-in-law, Karen Olison, and Kurie Anthony, grandchildren Hailey Olison, Kailen Olison, Harvey Olison IV, and Jermaine Anthony Jr., his siblings, Clementine Roy and Mary Holiday, and his wife Mary Barber Olison, and host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel L. Olison and Harvey Olison Sr.; and siblings, Albert Olison, Ethel Olison White, and Cora Chappel. He attended L.B. Landry High School and was a devoted member of Mount Pilgrim 4th Baptist Church, 429 Newton St., Algiers, LA. Harvey enlisted in the military, where he served our country in the United States Army and Marines. Harvey was a loving, caring, and energetic man who enjoyed dancing, jazz music, attending second lines, and spreading joy and laughter to all who knew him. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Saturday November 15, 2025, for 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pilgrim 4th Baptist Church, 429 Newton St., Algiers, La. 70114. Pastor Larry R. Steib officiating. Interment: Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1225 Whitney Avenue Gretna, Louisiana 70056.
