Harvey Daniel Roach, Sr. age 79, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Harvey Roach, born September 27, 1946, in Knoxville, Tennessee, was the son of the late Walter Lacy Roach and Wilma May Braden Roach. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a dedicated member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
After his military service, Harvey spent many years on the road as a truck driver with Tried Transport before retiring. Known for his warm spirit, he delighted in playing Santa Claus for others and earned the nickname “Knife Man,” a title remembered fondly by those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Roach.
He is survived by his son, Harvey Dwight “Junior” Roach, Jr. (Jerri Ashford); two stepsons, Preston Brown, and Johnny Caldwell; five step-grandchildren; his niece, Candy Teams; four great-nieces and nephews; and his devoted caregiver, Vickie Tidwell.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:30 A.M., Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 P.M. with military honors.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10:30 A.M. until the service hour at Dalton Funeral Home.
