Deacon Hayward Partman Sr.

We gather here today to celebrate the life of Deacon Hayward Partman, Sr. He was born on June 29, 1930 in Franklinton, Louisiana to the late Silas (Dewey) and Katie Burris Partman. Deacon Partman departed this life on April 23, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Deacon Partman was a Korean War Veteran. He served from 1951 to 1953. Upon military discharge, Deacon Partman was employed part time as a janitor. As years progressed, he became a lineman, then an installer repair man, outside plant technician, and services technician. Deacon Partman was the first black telephone installer in Washington Parish. He retired from Bell South as a full-time employee in 1991.
Deacon Partman was united in holy matrimony to Nellie Grace Dyson Partman on March 5, 1954. To this union, nine children were born.
Deacon Partman became a member of the Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness USA at an early age. He was baptized under the pastorage of Elder H.R. McKinnis.
He later became a member of Bethel COCH USA under the leadership of Elder B.T. Johnson. In 1959, at the age of 29, he was ordained as the youngest deacon under the pastorage of Bishop Clifton Goodlow. He faithfully served as a deacon in the Church of Christ Holiness USA for over 64 years. At the time of his departure, Deacon Partman was an active member at Mt. Zion Church of Christ Holiness, USA under the leadership of Minister Fredrick Dillon. He was committed to a true and living God. He believed in service and outreach. This was evident as you could see him walk into any church service or assembly carrying his fishing pole (Matthew 4:19). Deacon Partman said he was fishing for souls. What a great testimony and spiritual example of a true "Man of God." Deacon Partman willingly and tirelessly served within the Church of Christ Holiness USA on the District, Diocese and National levels. He was truly "chosen to serve."
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Silas and Katie Partman; four brothers, Silas Partman Jr., Alfred Partman, E.M. Partman, and Wilfred Partman; three sisters, Edith Causey, Louise Hewitt, and Ursline Partman.
He leaves to celebrate his life nine children, Priscilla Ann Young of Houston, Texas, Jacquelyn Partman (Joseph) Brown of New Orleans, Louisiana, Alvin Curtis (Sharon) Partman, Sr. of Franklinton, Louisiana, James Allen Partman of New Orleans, Louisiana, Toni Alecia (James) Glass of Powder Springs, Georgia, Elliott Partman of Franklinton, Louisiana, Katrina Renee Smith of Kannaopolis, North Carolina, Hayward Partman II of Franklinton, Louisiana, and Timothy Dorando (April) Partman of Franklinton, Louisiana; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Eva Spikes and Helen Spearman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 4:30PM - 6:30PM at Mt. Zion Church of Christ Holiness.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 11:00AM - 1:00PM followed by the funeral service at 1:00PM at R. W. Johnson Auditorium with Eld. Alvin Partman, Sr. - Officiating.
