Hazel Mae Kanipe, age 96, of Knoxville, TN formerly of Talbott, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at her home. She was a long-time devoted member of Northwest Church of God where she served as a loyal participant of the choir and ladies ministry. Hazel retired from the Knox County Schools system as a Special Ed Teacher's assistant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter V. Kanipe; parents, Edgar and Naomi Rickard; brothers, Homer Rickard, and James Rickard; sister, Helen Woods; Son, W. Vincent Kanipe, Jr.; daughter, Ann N. Kanipe, and son Phillip L. Kanipe. She is survived by her daughter, Lona Sue Terry; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Kanipe; grandchildren, Deborah Kanipe (Jon) Hermanson, Phillip W. (Kimberly) Terry, II, Tamela Kanipe, Diane Terry (Larry) Carpenter, Beth Terry (John) Eaton, Jan Terry (Jason) Sharp, 20 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends, and best friend Daisy. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Rose Funeral & Cremation-Broadway. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor John Wilkinson officiating. Family and friends will gather at 12:45 pm Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Roseberry Cemetery, (2920 Roseberry Road Mascot, TN 37806) for a 1:00 pm graveside service. Her Grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers. Online condolences may be extended at www.rosefuneraltn.com
