Fremont-Hazel Ham Sorrell, 84, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at her home. Born in Wayne County on December 2, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Ham and Dollie Langston Ham.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Swindell Sorrell; sister, Linda Ham; and brothers, James Ham, Linwood Ham, and Kenneth Ham.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Kathy Sullivan (Billy) of Fremont; son, Clifton "Cliff" Sorrell (Mary Ann) of Fremont; grandchildren, Lynn Parrish (David), Ginger Wright (Matt), Joshua Sorrell (Kinsey), Andrew Sorrell, and Ashleigh Lyons; great-grandchildren, Samantha Parrish, Tyler Parrish, Gage Wright, and Gunner Wright; sisters, Dottie H. Littleton (Donnie), Peggy Walston (Charles), and Pauline Jones; brothers, Ronnie Ham (Cathy) and Jimmy Ham (Beverly); and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel had worked as an inspector with Kerr Glass in Wilson for many years. She attended Faro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Hazel possessed great talent in the kitchen. She was well known for her cake baking skills and enjoyed sharing her cakes with her family and friends. Each year at Christmas, her loved ones looked forward to the homemade candy Hazel would make.
Family was paramount to Hazel. She relished in every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her siblings.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont with Rev. Don Sauls officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 PM until 8:30 PM on Monday July 11, 2022 at Seymour Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association,. 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
