Heather Ann Muir, born in Lowestoft, England, was the eldest child of Elsie and Victor Harvey. She was followed by her siblings, Stephanie and Keith Harvey. Heather met Thomas Muir in Lowestoft, where they began their family with three children: Garry, Debbie, and Tarnya. After starting their family, Heather and Thomas immigrated to the United States, eventually calling Los Angeles, California, their home. In Los Angeles, they welcomed their fourth child, Lisa. The family ultimately settled in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Throughout her life, Heather had a fascination with the Eiffel Tower, a love for collecting angel figurines, an enthusiasm for movies, and a passion for shopping whenever she had the chance. Early on, she also discovered a deep love for childcare, leading her to start her own childcare business, which she ran for decades. Heather never considered childcare a job, but rather a fulfilled passion.
Heather treated everyone with the utmost respect and the warmest of smiles. She was one of the most selfless and giving woman the world has ever seen. She took the greatest pride in her husband, her four children, twelve grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. There wasn't a thing she wouldn't have done for her family. Whenever Heather had free time, she spent it with her family. She yearned for Christmas each year, eager to spoil everyone she could. She cherished every moment of Christmas as she brought joy to everyone around her as they opened their presents. After everyone opened their presents, she would insist on doing a "cheers" with everyone using Martinelli's sparkling cider. Heather wrapped up the festivities by giving out her world-famous hugs.
Heather departed this world on the morning of Saturday, August 3, 2024. Like her beloved collection of angel figurines, she has claimed her well-deserved halo and set of wings. She was surrounded by several family members she loved and helped shape into the wonderful people they are today. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Muir; her siblings, Stephanie and Keith; her children, Garry Muir, Debbie LaMoreaux (Frank), Tarnya Muir, and Lisa Higham; twelve grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend gratitude to nurses Sam and Lilly, as well as the rest of the staff at Solstice Hospice for their dedication and support with end-of-life care. Along with the outpouring support of family, they were instrumental in making Heather as comfortable as possible in her final days.
Private services for Heather will be held at a future date.
May you forever rest in peace, Heather (wife, sister, mom, grandma, great-grandma and nanny).
