Helen Marie Oelschlaeger

Age 87, a lifelong resident of rural Leavenworth County, KS, passed away surrounded by

family on Wednesday July 16. 2025. Visitation will be Saturday July 26, 2025, from

10-11 am followed by the funeral at 11am both at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS.

Burial will be at a later date at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Helen Marie (Sedgwick) Oelschlaeger was born on August 12, 1937

at her family's farm in Linwood, KS, and was one of four children to

Eugene and Margaret (Gross) Sedgwick. Helen graduated from Bonner Springs

High School in 1955. Shortly after her graduation, she married Richard Walter Oelschlaeger

on June 10, 1955, at the United Methodist Church in Bonner Springs, KS. Richard

proceeded her in death on March 2, 2020. She was also preceded by two infant great grandsons Andrew and Landon in 2019.

Helen was a florist for over 40 years and managed Bonner Springs Floral and then

part time at Edisons Floral in Kansas City, Kansas before retiring. Helen was a longtime member

Of B.P.W. (Business and Professional Women) of Bonner Springs, as well as a lifelong farmer. She also loved gardening and all her flowers.

Helen and Richard raised 5 children and are survived by all.

Richard (Lori) Oelschlaeger of Salem, Arkansas; Deborah (Joseph) Wilson of Linwood, Kansas;

Keith (Cindy) Oelschlaeger of Tonganoxie, Kansas; Susan (Tony) Berg of Leavenworth, Kansas; Lisa (Tony) Reynolds of Gardner, Kansas.14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren with one on the way, and 4 great-great grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. (Please forgive us if we have left you out, as the list is greater than you can imagine.)

The family suggests Memorial Contributions to the Bonner Springs B.P.W. Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
