Helen LaVerne Rogers

Rogers, Helen LaVerne (Dehnert), aged 92, formerly of Dayton, KY, passed away on Friday, June 20th, 2025. Helen was valedictorian of her class at St. Benedict Business High School and utilized her valuable arithmetic skills during her time at American Insurance, McAlpin's Department Store, and Dillard's, dedicating nearly 25 years of service to the latter two. Additionally, her professional history includes a brief but transforming experience serving her country as a Naval Reserve "Wave." Her strong work ethic and steadfast determination touched all corners of both her work and home life. Nowhere was this more apparent than in her life's work-the construction and rental company she built together with her husband of 69 years, Monte "Curly" Rogers, and eventually her daughter, Michele. In addition to her work, Helen volunteered numerous hours at St. Catherine of Siena Parish and Newport Central Catholic High School. She also served as chairman of the Housing Authority during the twenty years she dedicated to her community, fulfilling a pivotal role in the erection of a housing project for the unhoused. In her free time, Helen enjoyed vacationing with her family, traveling to all fifty states and four countries, often horseback-riding at Montana ranches, or taking mules through the Grand Canyon. She is remembered for her unwavering compassion and empathy towards others, as well as the resources and services she devoted to countless neighbors and strangers alike. Helen is preceded in death by her mother, Emma Haubner Dehnert Turner, father, George Dehnert, and brother, Charles Dehnert. She is survived and sorely missed by her husband, Monte, daughter, Michele, son-in-law, Mike, grandchildren, Nick and Emma, and sister, Marilyn Dehnert-Tabb. Services will be held at Dobbling Funeral Home in Ft. Thomas, KY, on June 27 th, 2025. Visitation is 11-1 and will be followed by blessing and burial at St. Stephen Cemetery in Ft. Thomas, KY.
