Helen Sutherland

Helen Burch Sutherland, of Bronxville, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025 at home surrounded by her family, she was 88 years old. Loving wife of Jim (deceased). Adored mother to Elizabeth, Suzanne (husband James), Jennifer (late husband Michael), Amy (husband Eric), Daniel and James (wife Katie). Beloved Grandmother to Sean, Brooke, Kaelie, Anthony, Grace and Sophie.

Helen was born April 22, 1937 in Amityville, New York. She was the oldest of 3 daughters to Florence and Robert Burch, always talking about the day trips to Robert Moses beach and long drives in the family car.

Helen loved working in New York City in her years after high school where she met her husband of 62 years, Jim (Arthur Turner Sutherland, Jr). They moved to Boulder, CO so he could finish his collegiate studies and eventually made their way to Bronxville, which they called home for over 50 years. Helen was the heart of our home and family and devoted her life to raising her six children. She was involved in the Mothers Club of St Jospeh's while her children attended school there, as well as teaching at the Eliza Corwin Frost school for over 18 years.

Calling hours for Helen will be at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville on Sunday November 16th, between the hours of 2 to 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Church of Bronxville, on Monday November 17th at 10:45am.
