Helen Irene Wires, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on March 15, 2023. She was born on November 9, 1940, to Wesley and Margaret "Peggy" Brooks in Brooklyn, New York. Helen was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend to many.
Helen was a remarkable woman with an endless array of talents and passions. She loved traveling, prayer, sewing, painting ceramics, reading, playing solitaire, and indulging in M&M's. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family. During her younger years, Helen actively helped in the church and traveled extensively to different countries. She worked for Sears in New York as an editor for the Sears catalogues before moving to the USO, where she met her husband, Michael. Throughout her life, Helen helped raise many of her nieces and nephews, a testament to her generosity and loving nature. Helen was passionate about children and earned an Associate's Degree in Child Development. She spent 20 years as a preschool teacher and expressed that her love and passion for children only grew deeper with the birth of her two grandchildren, Jesse Jr. and Lorenzo.
Helen is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Michael Wires, daughter Cammie Robinson, son-in-law Jesse Robinson, and two grandchildren Jesse Jr. and Lorenzo Robinson. She is also survived by her four nieces and nephews Jodi, David, Bruce, and Kari, seven great-nieces and nephews Christy, Rhonda, Danielle, Thomas, Kyle, Jamie, and Jessie, fourteen great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Peggy Brooks, her sister Joyce Brooks, and great-niece Taylor Brooks.
Helen's kind and loving nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
