Helene Susan "Lainee" Carman

Mrs. Helene Susan "Lainee" Carman, age 76, of Rome, GA, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at her residence.

Lainee was born in Bronx, NY, on May 11, 1949, daughter of the late Jerome Richard Lilienthal and the late Jean Schwartz Lilienthal. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Lilienthal, and by a nephew, Robert Lilienthal. Lainee was a graduate of Levittown High School and went on to receive her degree in psychology from Southampton College. She retired from the Brookhaven, NY, Zoning Board of Appeals where she was the Senior Clerk Typist for many years. Lainee was a member of the Parkinson's Disease Support Group of Rome and was very active in the Rome Social Club (formerly the New Romans Club), where she was formerly the head of their "Out-to-lunch" group and the game club.

Affectionately known as "Bubbles", Lainee was a social butterfly who never met a stranger. She enjoyed playing Bunco, jigsaw puzzles, puzzle books and watching T.V. Lainee was an avid reader when her health allowed and was always ready to get dressed up and go out with her husband. She loved cooking and was often collecting and trying new recipes. Lainee had a wonderful sense of humor and always kept her friends and family entertained.

Survivors include her loving husband, Richard Carman, Rome, to whom she was married on August 23, 1969; 2 children, Julie Johnston (Sam), Rome, and Scott Carman, Ft. Collins, CO; 5 grandchildren, Jenna Farrer, Jersey Farrer, Austin Farrer (Dani), Jayden Farrer, and Sebastian Carman; and one nephew, Warren Lilienthal.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Carman will be cremated and the family will hold a Celebration of Life service at a later date.
