Henry Howard Brune passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the age of 77. He was born to Henry H. Brune, Sr. and Lillian Ida (Klockman) Brune on July 27, 1946, in Columbus, Texas.
Henry attended and graduated from Columbus High School in 1964. He later attended Wharton County Junior College and Texas Lutheran College. He married Marjorie Schindler in 1966 and continued his college education until he joined the Texas Department of Public Trooper Trainee Academy in 1967. Upon graduation from the TXDPS Academy, he was stationed in Floresville, Brookshire, and San Marcos. He finished his degree in Criminal Justice at Southwest Texas State. In 1977, he was promoted to Seargeant/Investigator and assigned to the Motor Vehicle Service in San Antonio. He served as President of Texas Association of Auto Theft Investigators, International Association of Auto Theft Investigators, and Texas Department of Public Officers Association. He taught at the FBI Academy in Berlin, Australia, and many other places. He developed programs to instruct on identification of construction and farm equipment. He was Council President of House of Prayer and on the board of St. John Lutheran Church.
Henry was the proud father of Karl and Cindy and Grandpa to Christopher and Nathan.
Marjorie and Henry loved to travel and took many cruises as well as road trips. Upon his retirement in 2008, he delivered Meals on Wheels every Tuesday for 11 years. He was also an active Master Gardener. He was a member of the grill guys at St. John Lutheran Church and the Eat Out Group as well as the Lunch Bunch. He enjoyed Sunday night Canasta and "42" games.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Eric Waters officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
