Henry Newton Caldwell, Jr. of Clayton, Oklahoma passed away on January 30, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on August 26, 1953 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Henry Newton Caldwell, Sr. and Ruby Ruth (Pierce) Caldwell, Henry grew up surrounded by a loving family. He was a cherished brother to Carolyn, Ruby, and Annita.
Henry's journey took him far from home when he joined the United States Army on August 30, 1972. His service during the Vietnam Era was a testament to his dedication and love for his country. After his military service, Henry embarked on a career as a long-haul truck driver, a profession that suited his independent nature and allowed him to traverse the vast landscapes he so loved.
Though a very private person, Henry's generosity knew no bounds, especially when it came to his nieces and nephews. He took great joy in supporting them, whether through his presence at family gatherings or the quiet ways he helped guide them through life's challenges. His was a life lived with honor, humility, and a profound sense of duty to his family and country. Henry's memory will continue to inspire us, reminding us of the power of a gentle soul in a noisy world.
He is survived by his sisters: Ruby Kirkes of Canadian, Oklahoma, and Annita White of Clayton, Oklahoma; his brother-in-law: Gary Nelson of Wilburton, Oklahoma. His life was enriched by the close bond he shared nephew, Justin Pruitt of Oklahoma City, and niece, Amara Kirkes of Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma. Henry was a beloved uncle to his great-nieces and great-nephews: Raven Pruitt, Abby Pruitt, Chloe Cole, Clay Trieannie. J.J. Pruitt, Rainey Pruitt, and Noah Pruitt. His cousin, Betty Lynn Lee of Ft. Worth, Texas, also held a special place in his heart.
Henry was preceded in death by his father: Henry Newton Caldwell, Sr.; his mother: Ruby Ruth (Pierce) Peters; and his sister, Carolyn Caldwell.
Goodnight, Henry Newton Caldwell, Jr. Your journey was one of purpose and heart, and your memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing you. Rest in peace, gentle soul.
