Henry E. Ebbeling of Whitinsville passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 26, one day shy of his 84th birthday. He was born in Whitinsville on August 27, 1939, and was the son of Elmer and Trina (Vriesema) Ebbeling. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Beverly (Barnes); his three daughters and their husbands Cara (James) Zabilansky of Oxford, Christine (Dennis) Epplett of Uxbridge, and Patricia (Patrick) Lawrence of Dudley; seven grandchildren Abigail Epplett, Angela (Zacharia) Schell, and Edward, Gabrielle, Thomas, Avry, and Taya Lawrence; and his sister Ahleen Ebbeling of Whitinsville. He was predeceased by his son Gerald Ebbeling.
Hank, as he was known by his family and friends, grew up in Milford where his parents managed the town farm. He attended Whitinsville Christian School, Milford High School, and graduated from Northbridge High School. He was an apprentice at the Whitin Machine Works where he learned the skills to become a precision mold maker. Throughout his career, he worked for several companies in the area including David Clark, 3M Machine, Micro Corporation, and Dover. Hank was a lifelong member of Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville where he had many friends.
Hank lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time with family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He and his wife Bev liked to take day trips throughout New England. They also enjoyed several vacations to the national parks out west and to the warm weather in Florida. Hank liked watching sports and cheering for the home team. One of his greatest pleasures was playing golf. He enjoyed the challenge of the game, spirited competition, and comradery of his golfing buddies.
His family thanks the staff at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Milford where he received treatment during multiple bouts with cancer. They also thank the Notre Dame home hospice team for their care during the last month of his life.
Although Hank will be greatly missed by his family, they find comfort knowing he is now with his heavenly Father in a place of glory where we will one day be reunited.
