Henry Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Allen Funeral Home and Crematory on Jan. 5, 2026.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Henry (Hank) T Moore, who left this world on November 29, 2025 at the age of 100. Though our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and the love he gave so freely. His presence was a gift, and his absence leaves a space that will never be filled.

Born on November 4, 1925, in Bloomington, Indiana, Hank lived a life rooted in strength, unwavering love, and deep devotion to his girls. Hank and his twin brother Jim were Indiana State Wrestling Champions. Before he finished his high school senior year he was drafted into the Navy. Hank wrestled in the Navy and at Indiana University where he earned his varsity letter.

To know Hank was to feel safe. He had a way of making the world seem reliable just by being in it. Whether through his gentle advice, his stories, his laughter, bad jokes, or simply his presence, he made those around him feel loved and supported.

He took great pride in his life's work retiring from the United States Postal Service and serving in the United States Navy in World War II, but his greatest accomplishment was the family he built and cherished. As a grandfather, he loved fiercely and unconditionally. His arms were always open, his wisdom always ready, and his love endless. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and the bond he shared with them and memories he created will live on forever.

Hank is survived by his wife Carol Lavender-Moore, children Shelli (David) Grissom and Lori Jones; grandchildren Hannah Jones, Haley (Shane) Keller, and Jeremy (Renee) Jones and several great- grandchildren each of whom carries a piece of his heart. His love will continue through the values he instilled, the lessons he taught, and the memories we hold close.

He was preceded in death by his his parents, Russell and Frances (May) Moore; his brothers, i James (Kathy) Moore; William and Richard Moore; his son in law Scott (Lori) Jones; and his grandson Scott Jones, Jr. Hank was blessed to have many good friends throughout the Bloomington Community.

We will miss his voice, his smile, his comforting presence, and the way he made ordinary moments feel meaningful. Though we say goodbye, we know his love will never leave us-it lives on in every story told, every tradition kept, and every heart he touched.

There will be no services at this time but a celebration of life will be held in Summer. In honoring his memory, the family asks that you remember him not with sadness alone, but with gratitude for a life well lived and a love well given. He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, please send monetary donations to the Bloomington Animal Shelter.

Hank was my dad´s nephew even though dad was three years younger. I will never forget his wonderful smile and positive attitude. He was loved and will be missed. My condolences to Carol and his children and grandchildren along with the rest of his family. God Bless You Hank
